Big Brown broke his maiden at Saratoga in September 2007 going 8.5f on the
turf. He won by 11 1/4 lengths and his time was 1:40.30.
After a layoff due to problems with his feet Big Brown came back to win an allowance at Gulfstream by a large margin. Following that he won the Florida Derby against the odds of his post position. Big Brown went on the win the Kentucky Derby, again from a challenging post position, and the Preakness S. After a disappointing Belmont S. he won the G1 Haskell Invitational S. and the Monmouth S. While preparing for the Breeders Cup Classic his foot was injured and he retired to stud duty at Three Chimneys with seven wins from eight starts and earnings of $3,614,500. In 2009 he recevied the Eclipse Award for Three Year olld Male of the Year.
